Layout: Making the Cut

This layout is all about taking risks – from the topic to the techniques I used. I used a Sketchabilities sketch and paired it with the ACOT Book of Me Challenge – Stepping Outside of Your Comfort Zone.

Making the Cut

The topic:  Getting my hair cut. I have always, ALWAYS have had medium length hair. But I wanted something different. Two weeks ago I decided to cut it short. Very very short. This is the shortest it has ever been. My hair is extremely thick and wavy, so I had asked the hair dresser if she could thin it out a bit. A straightening iron helps too. I journaled on the tag that is behind my photos.

There’s a twist to the BOM Challenge. While we are scrapping about something outside of our comfort zone, we should do something on our layout that really isn’t our usual style or technique.  I chose to use gesso, and mist and stamping, with layers – and not just layering of papers (which is what I do alot), but layering with washi tape, and embellies and bling, and photos. I have never used gesso before, so looking thru pinterest and other blogs  really helped me figure it out. And I LOVE the end result.

And Sketchabilities Sketch #99 really helped me figure out the gesso, mist, stamping, etc – this sketch just screams mixed media!

Thanks for looking! 🙂

  1. Well done you, stepping out of comfort zones is never easy. And I love that you did a BOM, all scrappers need to do more of those I think! Thanks for playing along with us at Sketchabilities!
