Sketches in Thyme #198

Good morning all! Sketches in Thyme this week is showcasing a sketch by the very talented Bev Code:

Team 2 Sketch

And here is my version of this sketch:

May 9th Layout

These pics are of Lady Lou, who some of ya might remember passed away a couple of years ago. These pics were perfect for this sketch. I have always scrapped Lady in pink and felt the yellow really popped.

I added washi to match my colors, pairing them with some chevron bling from my April Use It or Lose It Challenge, using it this month as a second chance item.

DSCN6552

The veneers are from Crate Paper, which I colored using a Watermelon gelato. The yellow doily is from Doodlebug. The pink pattern paper and silver bone paper is by Anna Griffin.

My journaling reads:
When Lady Lou was younger, she used to never play with toys or chew on bones. But one day, when she was about 12 yrs old, she picked up a rawhide chip and started chewing!

Love This Girl

Over the weekend, I finished up a stack of photos from Penny’s 2nd year. And finished it! Here’s one of those layouts:

Love This Girl

All of the papers, die cuts and stickers are from Anna Griffin. Love that collection!

I submitted this layout to ACOT’s Title Challenge. This time, I went back to March and replaced the letter “O” in “LOVE” with a paw print, along with adding a punched edge at the bottom.

I also used up both of those blingy flowers from my original Use It or Lose It post! I’m really making progress with those items. I think I have 3 sheets of paper and the ribbon leftover to use!

TFL! 🙂

Love

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful time with their Family and Friends this past Christmas weekend!

Today, I want to share with you a mixed media layout, featuring Miss Penny chewing on a bone. I used some new Heidi Swapp chipboard pieces I had gotten thru an envie earlier this month, as well as using my new heat tool to dry the gesso, gelatos, and mist quicker (thanks to my BFF for my Hobby Lobby GC!)

Love (5)

I used clear gesso to prime the paper. Still kind of warped, since I used Reminisce pattern papers (a little thinner than most). I used various stickers from Heidi Swapp, MAMBI, and Teresa Collins. Washi tape is by Little B. Title is from Anna Griffin

DSCN6226

I used Let’s Get Sketchy December Week 3 sketch. I just loved the single photo and the splatterings.

I’m also submitting this layout for ACOT’s Spelling Challenge. I could spell out CHRISTMAS or HOLIDAYS. I chose CHRISTMAS:
C = clear gesso
H = Heidi Swapp Chipboard pieces
R = Reminisce pattern papers
I = ink (pink)
S = Spearmint gelato
T = Tattered Angels mist (yellow)
M = MAMBI chipboard piece
A = Anna Griffin word title
S = stickers (Wonderful, Love This by Teresa Collins)

A Penny Lane Weekend!

This past weekend, me and my scrappy friends were over at my house for the last crop of 2015. We originally scheduled it for August 28th/29th, but with all the struggles that Bear was having, I just had to post-pone it. Now with the passing of Bear, things are starting to calm down a bit, so we decided to get together one last time before the Holidays have us kicking and screaming! LOL

I managed to get 5 pages done, 1 is for Sketch-N-Scrap that goes live next month, so I can’t show it to ya’ll yet. But I can show you my other pages that I did finish. They are all for Penny Lane’s Puppy Book. And its almost done too!

First layout is for ACOT’s Pet Challenge. Sher always offers a sketch that’s optional to do. I usually use it because I love sketches! The challenge this month was to use paper with animals on it. Dogs, cats, birds, whatever you like. So I broke into Authentique’s new line – DEVOTED – and cut mine into strips, along with fussy-cutting the hearts.

My Sweet Little Girl

Look at my sweet little girl, snoozing away! Adorable! ❤

And here is the sketch Sher provided:

My next layout is for ACOT’s Take Your Pick Sketch Challenge. Stacy chooses two sketches – one is a one-page sketch, the other one is a two-pager. I always try to do both.

So here is the first one:

323419-490

When I first saw this sketch, I was thinking about stitching or using bling or something for those circles. After playing around with paper/embellies, I opted to use a Crafter’s Workshop template that has “coffee rings” on them. Take a look:

I really do love the affect! And look at how little Penny was! These pics were just taken just shortly after we had gotten her! ❤

And here are my supplies for this layout:
cardstock: Bazzill
i love you paper: Teresa Collins
journal tag, pp: 7 Paper
stickers: Sticko
twine: Doodlebug
spoiled rotten metal tag: Flair Designs
sequins: MME
ink: Clearsnap
title: Freckled Fawn
Stencil: Crafter’s Workshop

Last but not least, I chose to do the 2-page sketch that Stacy offered:

323426-490

There are so many possiblities with this one! I just had a hard time choosing what pics to use! Then I came across some super cute pics of Miss Penny trying out the Pool for the very first time back in Feb 2013. It was the cutest sequence of pics! She first investigated the pool. Then she put one paw in…followed by another..and another..until she was all in!

1 paw, 2 paws, 3 paws, pool

DSCN6112

And that is where the title came from. 1 Paw, 2 paws, 3 paws, POOL! All the papers, die cuts, and 3D stickers are Anna Griffin’s “Best in Show” collection. I’ve had these pics for a while..and have always wanted to do a two pager…just didn’t find the right papers. Until now. 🙂

I did work on another layout, but just didn’t finish it in time. Hopefully throughout the week, I can work on it. Its like 90% done too. It needs a title and a sprinkle of embellies. Maybe enamel dots and some washi. We shall see!

As always, thanks for stopping by and looking! 🙂

Adorable

I LOVE recipe challenges, don’t you? They get you thinking outside the box, digging deep in your stash. And that’s always good!

So this layout is based on a Recipe Challenge hosted by Laura over at ACOT. During the summer, every 2 weeks, she does MMC (Mini Monday Crop). She offers 3-4 challenges, some chit chat, a few games. It really gets the board hopping.

Here’s my layout:

Adorable (2)

The items were chosen from a list, to create the perfect “Picnic“. Mine choices are as follows:
Choose 1:
b. large cooler with ice = cardstock and patterned paper

Choose at least 3, but not more than 6
a. sandwiches = photo mats
c. fresh fruit = flowers
f. pretzels = shaped clips/paper clips
g. cupcakes = a special treat (choose something that isn’t on your list..and tell us) — I used veneer stars
h. cheese tray = stickers
i. crackers = buttons

Choose your beverage:
e. iced tea = add enamel dots, bling, or acrylics in a cluster (at least 3)

Choose your comfort (pick 1):
b. lawn chairs = 2 photos

For the stickers, I really dug deep in my stash, using up some My Little Shoebox, MAMBI, Authentique, Teresa Collins. But they all went really well with my papers (Anna Griffin):

My layout is based on Sketch-N-Scrap’s Sketch #82:

This sketch was really up my alley, with all the layers and clusters of embellies. I was able to add buttons, veneer stars, stickers, bling and flowers!

Friends Fur-Ever

When Rob and I closed on our house, we made sure to bring the doggies over to the house at least once before move in day. My dogs have never known anything other than the previous house, so we didn’t know if they were going to freak out, get upset, try to dig out, etc. So the day after we closed, we took all four dogs over to the new home. Jeffrey had already been there, but the girls – it was their first time. And I made sure to capture those moments.

One of my fave moments of that day was to watch Ruby and Bear (who are 10 yr old litter mates) explore the yard. Together. With Ruby eventually leading the way.

Friends Fur-Ever

I’m in love with MAMBI’s newest stickers – both sticker and chipboard! They go with almost any subject.

My stencil work (needs more work..lol) was from My Favorite Things (the staggered paws) and I used a black gelato mixed with a bit of glaze (both from Faber-Castell). I really love how it turned out.

I went with this color theme (blues, purples, neutrals, gold, silver, and grey) to participate in ACOT’s Disney Challenge. I don’t do this challenge often as I’ve never been to Disney World, and I’ve only been to Disney Land once (but I was young, before I was a scrapper). But this month, the hostess had us use a picture of the Castle as inspiration and made it a color challenge!

My layout is based on a wonderful sketch from Let’s Get Sketchy (May – Week 4):

11062167_691086164333151_8170102620421393017_n

I pretty much stuck to the sketch. I love the use of 2 photos, with layers and either stencils or stamps or gelatos or even mist! This sketch has so many possibilities!

The complete list of my materials are as follows:
Background paper: Basic Grey
blue pattern paper, die cut title: Anna Griffin
mist: Tattered Angels
cardstock: DCWV
chipboard arrow/heart, word bubble, stickers: MAMBI
gelato, glaze: Faber-Castell
washi: Little B
stencil: My Favorite Things
black pattern paper: from stash

The road to my heart….

This next layout has been in the making for the past month or so. This particular doggie embellishment from Anna Griffin was perfect for March/April’s Graphic Design Challenge, but I ran out of time with being so busy unpacking and working and settling into our new home. The challenge was to use something on your layout (in the photo(s), or an embellishment/element, etc) that is in a color that normally that item wouldn’t be. But luckily, Kim hostesses a Rewind Challenge, allowing us to go back to the previous month and do a challenge that we were wanting to do.

The road to my heart

Here’s a closer look at that dog embellie:

DSCN5776

LOL! Dogs aren’t pink with pink polka dots!

The design for this layout came from Sketches in Thyme Sketch #148

may 15

I had alot of fun with this sketch – the splatters, the large pennats, the washi. Its a great sketch!

My products used are as follows:
Pattern Paper, title, sticker: Anna Griffin
pink washi tape: Love My tapes
Love you heart, star, word bubble, heart arrow: MAMBI
White mist: Studio Calico
twine: The Twinery
Camera washi tape: The Paper Studio
tag, pearls: from stash

Happy Birthday To You

Another doggie birthday page! This one features Ruby and Bear, taken March 6th of this year.

Happy Birthday to You

Its based on a sketch for the This Seems Sketchy Challenge at ACOT. Its for March, but each month, we have a Rewind Challenge, where we are able to go back and do a challenge we missed out on.  The sketch was really fun to use!

305727-490

I opted to skip the banner and moved my title more to the left. I layered/clustered my die cuts, and instead of ribbon or ric rac or even washi, I used a stamped quote instead, with a few sequins. The papers/die cuts/sticker title is all Anna Griffin.

TFL! 🙂

Birthday Boy

Its been 3 months since I’ve done any scrapping, and guess what I got to do this past Sunday afternoon? SCRAP! In my NEW scraproom in my NEW house! 🙂 I’m a happy camper, that’s for sure!

To jump start my mojo, I used a Becky Fleck Sketch that ACOT posted, which is due tonight. Its what I needed to get me started again!

307823-490

Birthday Boy

I stayed pretty true to sketch in the sense that its a one photo layout, with circles and “white space”. But I swapped out the tag with a dog house die cut and a swirl; and the butterfly for a paw print. I had ordered new pictures AND new scrappy goodies from Anna Griffin, so if you think about it, I had TO SCRAP! 🙂
