A Cherry On Top has a brand new Becky Fleck Sketch Challenge this week:
I really love the patchwork/grid design of papers, with the one photo. Here is what I came up with:
Its a photo of me and my Papa at Thanksgiving this past year. We’ve taken a photo together each year for the past 4. Great memories that we both cherish!
I used DCWV solid cardstock, The Paper Studio pattern papers and title (I’m trying to kill off a Family Heirloom Collection Kit that I’ve had FOREVER!), border sticker from MAMBI, bling from Zva Creative, rub-on tree from SEI, “Harvest” sticker from Photoplay and banner from Basic Grey.
ACOT’s Guest Designer’s next challenge was to USE ‘EM UP! LOL! As scrappers, we tend to buy, buy, buy and only use just a little. We all have that one (or two, or ten) collections that we are just hoarding. Mine is usually something from Basic Grey! And the “Persimmon” collection is what I decided to use with this sweet photo of me and my Papa from Thanksgiving, 2014.
The papers/stickers are from BG, and I added some mixed media to the background to give the layout some interest. The hexagon stencil is from Crafter’s Workshop, and the mist is from Studio Calico.
Layout is inspired by Let’s Get Sketchy Sketch Week 2, October, by Laetitia. Isn’t it beautiful?
Nuts About Sketch’s newest sketch is a very unique one. It uses just one, large circle photo with a few embellies here and there. When I saw it, it took me about 45 mins to find the PERFECT photo. Once I did, I literally went to town on this layout and thought OUTSIDE the box, which is very unlike me. But because this sketch was so different and unique, it was perfect to get outside my comfort zone a bit.
The photo I found was from Thanksgiving 2009. Thanksgiving is more important to my family than any other holiday. Since about 1997, my mom’s side of the family has gotten together to celebrate Thanksgiving. Its usually the ONLY time (sometimes) we get to see each other in this crazy, busy world we all live in. This photo is extra special because we are all there. Plus each generation wore a particular color. My grandparents are in the rocking chairs, wearing white shirts. Their children and their children’s significant others are all in red. Me, my brother and my cousins are in green. Then the great grand kids are all in blue, with the only girl in pink.
My list of supplies include:
background paper, plaid paper, scalloped paper, dotted paper, “thats” sticker, date tag: SEI
bling, small brown alphas: Bo Bunny
teal paper, white small alphs: Authentique
floral spray, yellow rose: Prima
teal flower: KaiserCraft
white flower: Recollections
I had a lot of fun with this next sketch, using some silly family memories from last Thanksgiving.
Here’s the two page sketch #329 from Nuts About Sketches:
And here’s my layout:
I stuck to the sketch pretty good, except I replaced the two 4X5’s with my title and the misting:
Here’s a few more close ups:
The green tiny brads are WRMKs, and the chevron washi tape is Queen & Co. All other products are Basic Grey – “Hey Girl!”, “Knee Highs & Bow Ties”, and “Fact & Fiction” collections.
