Stay Warm

Hello everyone! Hope you are enjoying the weekend. Its dreary out here and so I’m staying in, scrapping!

This next layout, surprisingly, came together rather quickly. In 30 mins, I had a completed layout! That usually doesn’t happen. I think its because I didn’t overthink it. I really want to use up this Basic Grey “Paper Cottage” collection. I had stickers, alphas and good size scraps. With the help of a LGS sketch, this is what I came up with:

Stay Warm

Ruby, Penny and LB staying warm in their little doggie coats (Jan 2015). Since there was alot of red and pink, with a hint of blue, I chose a light bluish teal cardstock for my background. Added the stencil/mist, with washi tape and just started piling on the layers. Here is the sketch:

Team A Week 2

Kind of stayed true to the sketch – in particular of placement of elements/photos/borders.

The circular photos are for ACOT’s Cherryland Challenge. I chose Maraschino cherry. I also combined with ACOT’s 3 in a Row Challenge. Its BINGO style this month and I went with 1st Row: cardstock; frame; inking; color blue; and stencil.

I knocked out quite a few items off my April 2016 Use It or Lose It Challenge. I have no more paper from the BG collection. Used the xoxo stamp again and the die cut heart frame, along with 2 more of those puffy stickers from CTMH.

Hello!

This next layout features a friend’s dog, River. When we first moved into our home last year, we had somebody visiting us each weekend, at least, so they could see the place. And that included doggies! My friend wanted to get her dog to socialize with others, and my 3 are pretty friendly.

Hello

Isn’t she gorgeous? Just look at that sweet doggie smile!

This layout is for ACOT’s Washi Challenge – to use washi tape to cover raw chipboard. I do not have very much “raw” chipboard, but I did find this medium size bone! So I covered it up with American Crafts washi tape. To add interest, I fussy cut the phrase “All you need is love…and a dog” from a sheet of Canvas Corp Kraft pattern paper.

The pattern papers (except the chevrons) are by Basic Grey “Paper Cottage”, which is part of my April Use It or Lose It Challenge (along with the Canvas Corp paper). I used a few stickers from the sticker sheet too (To Do Today tag; bow; border strip). The puffy stickers and special event tag are also from my April Challenge.

The teal pattern paper, word bubble and enamel dots are Echo Park; with veneers from CTMH (as well as puffies).

And with that said, all I have left from the Basic Grey “Paper Cottage” Collection are the alphas and half of the sticker sheet. But the paper is GONE!

Who let the dogs out?

That is usual the question around here. That question made an excellent title for this layout – which happens to be perfect for ACOT’s Music Challenge (song or lyric must ask a question). The song is by Baha Men.

Who let the dogs out

The color scheme is based on ACOT’s Mood Board Challenge. The colors are just gorgeous!

I was inspired by the colors (green, pink, grey, yellow, orange, blue) and the water colors. We also had to use enamel dots.

The puffy stickers are from CTMH, and was listed in my April Use It or Lose It Challenge. The enamel dots are by Freckled Fawn, washi tape Little B, the watercolor by Faber-Castell and alphas are by Fancy Pants. Everything else is by 7 Papers.

The design is based in a Let’s Get Sketchy sketch from last month. I loved the design of it. Lots of possibilities.

Keep Calm & Carry On

The next layout is based on Bo Bunny’s March Sketch, which is awesome in itself

Bo bunny

And my layout:

Keep Calm and Carry On

I followed it pretty well, using tons of layers. I used Bo Bunny’s “Family Is…” collection, and washi tape by Bella Blvd. All the little pieces – die cuts and layers – are from the die cut package that I challenged myself to use from February’s Use It or Lose It Challenge.

The Best Day Ever

ACOT’s Guest Designer’s next challenge was to USE ‘EM UP! LOL! As scrappers, we tend to buy, buy, buy and only use just a little. We all have that one (or two, or ten) collections that we are just hoarding. Mine is usually something from Basic Grey! And the “Persimmon” collection is what I decided to use with this sweet photo of me and my Papa from Thanksgiving, 2014.

The Best DAy Ever

The papers/stickers are from BG, and I added some mixed media to the background to give the layout some interest. The hexagon stencil is from Crafter’s Workshop, and the mist is from Studio Calico.

Layout is inspired by Let’s Get Sketchy Sketch Week 2, October, by Laetitia. Isn’t it beautiful?

Never Be Afraid to Give Up The Good to Go for the GREAT

This next layout, I went a little crazy on the layers. But I’m really knocking out my stash of flowers, brads, and bling!

Never be afraid to give up the good for the great

The little envelope has some journaling in it. Its actually a list of things I love about my hubby. 🙂 That part of this layout was inspired by ACOT’s GD Challenge #4. Here is a close-up of that:

And other close-ups:

The layout is based on Let’s Get Sketchy Sketch Week 3 for June:

I {heart} Cats

Sketch-n-Scrap’s latest sketch is so fun and versatile. I enjoyed using it to create this layout of my husband with Lola, my brother’s kitty from a few years ago.

I heart cats

And here’s the sketch – #54

Sketch #54

I loved the way it included a smaller photo with a larger one, with lots of layers and the ink splatters was just the perfect way to top off the layout!

I also did this for ACOT’s “What’s OLD is NEW Again”, where it was a spelling type challenge. The hostess gave us the following words — APRIL OLD NEW — and we were supposed to use something on your layout that begins with the each letter.  You can use manufacturer names or item names, colors, technique, whatever you want.

These are my items:

Arrow (Fancy Pants)
Pattern paper background (Simple Stories)
Reminisce stickers
Inked edges
Love My Tapes Washi

Orange “meow” sticker (Reminisce)
Layers
DCWV kitty collage paper

Navy paper clip
EK Success punch
WRMKs “I heart cats” tag

Layout: Huh! What?

Tonight I have a fun layout that is for a few challenges. The look on my friend’s face just cracks me up. I yelled out “Picture!” and this is the look she gave me. LOL.

Huh! What

Its based on Let’s Get Sketchy Week One – January:

TeamAWeek1Jan

The other two challenges are over at ACOT. One is for CHA Bundle Up Challenge – where I had to use many layers on my layout. And I had to use textures! So my base is cardstock, but the photo is matted on glittered cardstock, and that is matted on corrugated cardstock. I fussy cut some pattern paper and have a cluster of tags/metal trinkets.

Huh! What 2

The second ACOT challenge is a BINGO-style challenge. I went with column “N” – a single photo; a Bo Bunny product (pattern paper and trinkets are from the Ambrosia collection); a FREE space (chose to use twine by Doodlebug); Flowers (the metal trinkets); and Tags (one is cardstock, the ‘scrap happy’ tag is a sticker by Karen Foster).

Layout: In My Heart

My first layout of the new year features my aunt and uncle at my grandparents’ birthday party from 2012. It is based on several challenges, including a sketch!

In my Heart

DSCN2735

First, Let’s Get Sketchy offered a very fun challenge for Week 5 – BINGO! I chose the last row across – Butterflies (3 stickers); Chipboard (title and heart); Frame; Stitching; and Doily. I also used Sketchabilities sketch #106 for my design:

#106-sketchabilities

This layout is also my example for the January 2014 Fashion Challenge at ACOT that I host each month. This month, scarves are in fashion, and not just ordinary scarves. But scarves with fun details – polka dots, ribbon, sequins, etc. And you have to have at least 3 layers. There are more details about the challenge over at A Cherry On Top.

I used mostly Basic Grey “Hopscotch” products – papers, chipboard, 3D stickers – which I thought was perfect with this happy photo of my aunt and uncle. The mist is by Tattered Angels; border punch is Martha Stewart; ribbon is Pink Paislee and the doily and bling are from my stash.
