Friends Fur-Ever

When Rob and I closed on our house, we made sure to bring the doggies over to the house at least once before move in day. My dogs have never known anything other than the previous house, so we didn’t know if they were going to freak out, get upset, try to dig out, etc. So the day after we closed, we took all four dogs over to the new home. Jeffrey had already been there, but the girls – it was their first time. And I made sure to capture those moments.

One of my fave moments of that day was to watch Ruby and Bear (who are 10 yr old litter mates) explore the yard. Together. With Ruby eventually leading the way.

I’m in love with MAMBI’s newest stickers – both sticker and chipboard! They go with almost any subject.

My stencil work (needs more work..lol) was from My Favorite Things (the staggered paws) and I used a black gelato mixed with a bit of glaze (both from Faber-Castell). I really love how it turned out.

I went with this color theme (blues, purples, neutrals, gold, silver, and grey) to participate in ACOT’s Disney Challenge. I don’t do this challenge often as I’ve never been to Disney World, and I’ve only been to Disney Land once (but I was young, before I was a scrapper). But this month, the hostess had us use a picture of the Castle as inspiration and made it a color challenge!

My layout is based on a wonderful sketch from Let’s Get Sketchy (May – Week 4):

I pretty much stuck to the sketch. I love the use of 2 photos, with layers and either stencils or stamps or gelatos or even mist! This sketch has so many possibilities!

The complete list of my materials are as follows:
Background paper: Basic Grey
blue pattern paper, die cut title: Anna Griffin
mist: Tattered Angels
cardstock: DCWV
chipboard arrow/heart, word bubble, stickers: MAMBI
gelato, glaze: Faber-Castell
washi: Little B
stencil: My Favorite Things
black pattern paper: from stash

Layout: Happy Franksgiving!

Yes, this layout is titled “Happy Franksgiving”, and no, its not a typo. I have an uncle whose name is Frankie, and his bday falls really close to Thanksgiving, and SOMETIMES he shares his birthday with Thanksgiving. Combine those two words and you get “Franksgiving”. LOL!

This layout is based on a sketch over at Sketch-N-Scrap:

I LOVE everything about this sketch, from the design to the circle and the stars, which I used a combination of red mist from Tattered Angels and a Crafter’s Workshop template along with sprinkling of veneer stars by Studio Calico:

I also combined this layout with two challenges over at ACOT. The first is the color challenge – use red, white, and blue and it CANNOT be about Independence Day. And the second one is the What’s On TV? Challenge, where the hostess selected the show “Cake Boss”. The challenge? At least one photo must have cake or cupcakes in it.

I {heart} Cats

Sketch-n-Scrap’s latest sketch is so fun and versatile. I enjoyed using it to create this layout of my husband with Lola, my brother’s kitty from a few years ago.

I heart cats

And here’s the sketch – #54

Sketch #54

I loved the way it included a smaller photo with a larger one, with lots of layers and the ink splatters was just the perfect way to top off the layout!

I also did this for ACOT’s “What’s OLD is NEW Again”, where it was a spelling type challenge. The hostess gave us the following words — APRIL OLD NEW — and we were supposed to use something on your layout that begins with the each letter.  You can use manufacturer names or item names, colors, technique, whatever you want.

These are my items:

Arrow (Fancy Pants)
Pattern paper background (Simple Stories)
Reminisce stickers
Inked edges
Love My Tapes Washi

Orange “meow” sticker (Reminisce)
Layers
DCWV kitty collage paper

Navy paper clip
EK Success punch
WRMKs “I heart cats” tag

Layout: Treasured Memories

This layout of my mom, aunt, and cousin literally just fell into place so smoothly. Its based on a sketch, and the One Word Challenge over at ACOT.

Treasured Memories

The papers are by The Paper Studio, and so is the word art stickers (The Family Heirloom Kit). The flowers are by K & Company; bling flourish is by Zva Creative; arrows are by Fancy Pants; and I used my SewEasy for the stitching. Here are some close-ups:

The layout is based on Sketchabilities Sketch #111:

I loved the misting, which I used in “Coffee Bean” by Inkadinkado; and the large circle.

I also used this layout for the One Word Challenge at ACOT. The word is “TREASURE”, and you have to use it as your title, but in any format. The Paper Studio kit had these word art stickers, which in my opinion, would be perfect for a title!

Layout: The Griddler

Funny story, this layout. My husband is an amazing cook, and one of the things is hamburgers. We used to have a grill, but it doesn’t work anymore. So when we do burgers, he uses the griddle on the stove. We have friends who have coined him “The Griddler”. lol…:)

I used Sketchabilities #101 Sketch to help me in the design

I also submitted it for the 4X4 Challenge over at ACOT. Papers and stickers are Pink Paislee. Mists are Tattered Angels.

Layout: Just The Girls

Sketch-N-Scrap has another amazing sketch this month and paired with My Mind’s Eye “Happy Haunting” collection, finally got some Halloween pics from 2008 scrapped!

Here’s the sketch – #43:

And here’s my layout:

Just the Girls

I also combined this layout with a challenge over at ACOT. The Guest Designer has a “Witches Brew” recipe and these are the items I picked (and what they mean):

Have or go to a Halloween Party = pattern paper/cardstock
Scavenger Hunt = 2 pics
Pumpkin = use orange
Witch = brads
Frankenstein = use mist
Zombie = use a b/w photo

Layout: Hippie Chick – Stardust

Sketchabilities has another GREAT sketch out and again, I had to try my hand at using gesso, misting, inking – and I added paint to the layout too!

Hippie Chick - Stardust

This photo is of my BFF dressed up as a Hippie for Halloween. With such a fun photo, it was easy to have fun with the layout, too!

Most of my products are Webster’s Pages (ACOT Manufacturer Challenge) – papers, transparencies, journaling tags, resin embellishments, ribbon, alphas, and feathered flower.
