Happy Birthday….using NAS #358

Nuts About Sketches Sketch #358 is bitter sweet for me, as its the last sketch for my DT term.

With that said, its also a great sketch for using up those scraps! After this layout, I am down to 3 very small scraps of paper with about 1/3 of the sticker sheet from Carta Bella’s “Its a Celebration” collection.

358 - Due 2-22-15

358 - Brandy

I stuck to the sketch pretty well, with using mist in place of journaling, and some large stickers for the title and larger circles.

My brads are a mix of Basic Grey and WRMKs, and the washi tape is Bella Blvd.

I have truly enjoyed being on Nuts About Sketch‘s DT for not one, but TWO consective terms. Thank you Shawn. For all the fabulous sketches I got to work with.

Moments using NAS #356

Nuts About Sketches newest layout is a two pager, and I used both sides this time to help me scrap one of my dearest friends’ 30th Surprise Birthday Party!

356 - Due 2-8-15

356 - Brandy

As you can see, I stuck with the sketch pretty well, including the 7X5 photo on the 1st page with the banner; but instead of 3 smaller photos on top right side – I just used 4 6X4’s.

DSCN5708

I fussy cut the banner by using a sticker banner from Carta Bella, putting it on the orange side of Echo Park sticker paper, and then fussy cutting it and flipping it over so I can use the lighter blue side of the banner, to better suit my needs. Alphas are Echo Park too, with brads from WRMKs.

DSCN5707

Tag is from my stash, and the cute arrow with the brad is also by Echo Park. Washi is Bella Blvd:

The Echo Park collection I used is “That’s My Boy” – leftovers from my step son’s album. But the sticker at the bottom – “Clearly up to No Good” just says it all! The orange chevron brad with the 2 smaller yellow ones are also Echo Park; with the veneer stars by Studio Calico.

Kitty & Kat using NAS #355

When I see a sketch using a larger photo (anything bigger than 5X7), I either shy away from it or use many smaller photos in a grid to get the same look. This time, though, I had a photo in mind, and went with the 8X10 size photo that Nuts About Sketches Skech 355 was needing. My cousin Katharine (who can pass as my li’l sis) holding a sweet li’l kitten at Thanksgiving last year. My aunt (her mom) edited the photo and changed it to b/w, which I think is PERFECT as it goes really well with my papers/embellishments.

355 - Due 2-1-15

As you can tell, I stayed true to the sketch, minus the large title banner and just played up the embellies a bit more.

I fussy cut the letters from a piece of pattern paper.

All of the papers and embellishments, and I mean ALL of it (chipboard, stickers, sequins) are from Teresa Collins “Nine & Co” collection. I JUST bought this myself as an early birthday present to me last week from Steals.com. I just love these soft colors and gorgeous embellishments. From the sequins to the foiled chipboard.

Howling with NAS #354

Nuts About Sketches newest sketch was so fun to work with. The smaller photos, along with circles – its my new fave style now!

354 - Due 1-25-15

354 - Brandy

I made the larger circle a bit bigger on my layout, and only using one circle photo, and fussy-cutting a word bubble for the smaller one. I fussy-cut quite a few more word bubbles and placed them strategically. I was thinking about bordering with paper, but instead, went with washi, and decided to layer, layer, layer!

DSCN5642

For other embellishments, I went with pearls and enamels.

Puppy Smoothies using NAS Sketch #353

This is the first time I’ve only used one side of a two page sketch. I really wanted to get these photos scrapped, but fell in love with the two page sketch. So I ended up using only the left side of the sketch. My layout turned out great anyways!

353 - Due 1-18-15

There is room for 4 photos with lots of journaling.

353 - Brandy

I ended up using four photos anyways, but swapping out one of the circles with another photo, and just embellishing a bit more.

Papers and brad are Bo Bunny; enamel hearts/arrow are MME; frames are Prima; washi is Queen & Co; stickers are MAMBI; alphas are Pink Paislee; and bling paw/paw print stickers are from my stash.

Beautiful Lady Lou using NAS Sketch #347

Nuts About Sketches sketch #347 really caught my eye, as it uses 2 photos, and a large circle. The sketch also allows the scrapper to modify it to their needs. And that’s what I did – I swapped out the diamonds for hearts; stars for flowers.

347 - Due 12-7-14

347 - Brandy

I also tore my pattern paper at the top and bottom and added ribbon. with a chipboard tag at the bottom. I put my title on the die cut ring itself.

My supplies include:
Background paper: Around the Block
houndstooth/paw print paper: Reminisce
chipboard hearts, tag: Heidi Grace
felt flowers: KaiserCraft
purple cardstock: Coredinations
ribbon: 7 Gypsies
mini alphas: My Little Shoebox
alphas, stickers: The Paper Studio

Kandie & LB using NAS sketch #346

I don’t scrap two pagers often, but when I do, its usually a Nuts About Sketches sketch. Why? Because Shawn’s sketches are so unique, combining different size photos and fun elements.

With that said, this next two pager has room for 12 pictures!

346 - Due 11-30-14

346 - Brandy

I stayed pretty true to the design of the sketch, but ended up using a 6×3 photo instead of 2 3X3’s on the first page; followed by swapping out some of the smaller photos for some SN@P! cards:

Cards/stickers are Simple Stories; dotted paper is Bo Bunny; washi tape is Bella Blvd. Colorful paw print paper is the Paper Studio. Brads are from my stash.

Dog Gone Cute using NAS #345

Nuts About Sketches newest sketch is a two pager and there isn’t much cropping to do on the photos and it allows the scrapper to add as many embellies as needed!

345 - Due 11-23-14

345 - Brandy

As you can tell, I stayed true to the sketch, and enhanced some of those “circles” with die cuts from Cricut cartridge “Paper Pups”.

pearls: Want 2 Scrap

Playtime. All The Time. using NAS #343

When we first got Penny in November 2012, her and Jeffrey played ALL the time, all day long. Naturally, I took pics of them running and playing. I took so many of them, Nuts About Sketches latest sketch (which happens to be a two pager) was perfect to get these pics scrapped!

343 - Brandy

343 - Due 11-9-14

As you can tell, I stuck to the sketch pretty well. My title goes across both pages, using the larger chipboard alphas for the 1st page, and the mini alphas on the large ring on the second. The photos are pretty much self-explanatory, so I really didn’t need a space for journaling. I’ve had these Reminisce word bubbles for a while and thought they’d be a nice addition to the layout:

DSCN5359

The large ring is chipboard, and I used Mod Podge to glue down the pattern paper:

The cluster at top is just scalloped circles punched using scraps, with a clear sticker and paper clip:

Now THAT’S a family with NAS #342

Nuts About Sketch’s newest sketch is a very unique one. It uses just one, large circle photo with a few embellies here and there. When I saw it, it took me about 45 mins to find the PERFECT photo. Once I did, I literally went to town on this layout and thought OUTSIDE the box, which is very unlike me. But because this sketch was so different and unique, it was perfect to get outside my comfort zone a bit.

342 - Due 11-2-14 (2)

342 - Brandy

The photo I found was from Thanksgiving 2009. Thanksgiving is more important to my family than any other holiday. Since about 1997, my mom’s side of the family has gotten together to celebrate Thanksgiving. Its usually the ONLY time (sometimes) we get to see each other in this crazy, busy world we all live in. This photo is extra special because we are all there. Plus each generation wore a particular color. My grandparents are in the rocking chairs, wearing white shirts. Their children and their children’s significant others are all in red. Me, my brother and my cousins are in green. Then the great grand kids are all in blue, with the only girl in pink.

My list of supplies include:

background paper, plaid paper, scalloped paper, dotted paper, “thats” sticker, date tag: SEI
bling, small brown alphas: Bo Bunny
Burlap: DCWV
teal paper, white small alphs: Authentique
SewEasy: WRMKs
floral spray, yellow rose: Prima
teal flower: KaiserCraft
white flower: Recollections
