A Penny Lane Weekend!

This past weekend, me and my scrappy friends were over at my house for the last crop of 2015. We originally scheduled it for August 28th/29th, but with all the struggles that Bear was having, I just had to post-pone it. Now with the passing of Bear, things are starting to calm down a bit, so we decided to get together one last time before the Holidays have us kicking and screaming! LOL

I managed to get 5 pages done, 1 is for Sketch-N-Scrap that goes live next month, so I can’t show it to ya’ll yet. But I can show you my other pages that I did finish. They are all for Penny Lane’s Puppy Book. And its almost done too!

First layout is for ACOT’s Pet Challenge. Sher always offers a sketch that’s optional to do. I usually use it because I love sketches! The challenge this month was to use paper with animals on it. Dogs, cats, birds, whatever you like. So I broke into Authentique’s new line – DEVOTED – and cut mine into strips, along with fussy-cutting the hearts.

My Sweet Little Girl

Look at my sweet little girl, snoozing away! Adorable! ❤

And here is the sketch Sher provided:

My next layout is for ACOT’s Take Your Pick Sketch Challenge. Stacy chooses two sketches – one is a one-page sketch, the other one is a two-pager. I always try to do both.

So here is the first one:

323419-490

When I first saw this sketch, I was thinking about stitching or using bling or something for those circles. After playing around with paper/embellies, I opted to use a Crafter’s Workshop template that has “coffee rings” on them. Take a look:

I really do love the affect! And look at how little Penny was! These pics were just taken just shortly after we had gotten her! ❤

And here are my supplies for this layout:
cardstock: Bazzill
i love you paper: Teresa Collins
journal tag, pp: 7 Paper
stickers: Sticko
twine: Doodlebug
spoiled rotten metal tag: Flair Designs
sequins: MME
ink: Clearsnap
title: Freckled Fawn
Stencil: Crafter’s Workshop

Last but not least, I chose to do the 2-page sketch that Stacy offered:

323426-490

There are so many possiblities with this one! I just had a hard time choosing what pics to use! Then I came across some super cute pics of Miss Penny trying out the Pool for the very first time back in Feb 2013. It was the cutest sequence of pics! She first investigated the pool. Then she put one paw in…followed by another..and another..until she was all in!

1 paw, 2 paws, 3 paws, pool

And that is where the title came from. 1 Paw, 2 paws, 3 paws, POOL! All the papers, die cuts, and 3D stickers are Anna Griffin’s “Best in Show” collection. I’ve had these pics for a while..and have always wanted to do a two pager…just didn’t find the right papers. Until now. 🙂

I did work on another layout, but just didn’t finish it in time. Hopefully throughout the week, I can work on it. Its like 90% done too. It needs a title and a sprinkle of embellies. Maybe enamel dots and some washi. We shall see!

As always, thanks for stopping by and looking! 🙂

Sports pages and NAS sketches

Here are the final two layouts that I did over the weekend at the crop I went to. My step-son played a variety of sports in High School, including Football & Basketball. And Echo Park makes some awesome mini kits for just those sports. Each layout is also based on a Nuts About Sketches sketch.

Layout One – Football; based on Sketch 300

Layout Two – Basketball; based on Sketch 301

Layout: They call me Twubs!

The inspiration for this layout was the Imagination Challenge at ACOT – nicknames! All the doggies I know – whether they are mine or not – have at least one nickname. Some have two, and some have five! My BFF and her two little doggies live with us temporarily and just recently, my husband nicknamed her dog Trouble “Twubs”. And my design is based on Sketch-N-Scrap’s sketch #45. I just loved all the layers and the chance to use several photos.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:

They call me TWUBS

I used Best Creation pattern paper, with Queen & Co washi tape, alphas by Basic Grey and My Little Shoebox, twine by Doodlebug and veneer triangles by Studio Calico.

Layouts: Such a Sweet Girl & Doggie Lover

During my scrappy weekend with my friends, I managed to do five layouts. For two of them, I used Nuts About Sketches Weeks 281 & 282, combining them with challenges from A Cherry On Top.

My first layout features my parents’ dog, Kandie. I used mostly Basic Grey’s “Max & Whiskers” collection, along with washi tape by Queen & Co, and my SewEasy:

Such a Sweet Girl

Its based on NAS -Week 281, as well as ACOT’s “What’s on TV Challenge?” where our subject had to be during two or more different days. The top photo of Kandie is from Sept 2012 and the bottom two were taken in Dec 2012:

281 - 1 Due September 1

My second layout features me with my brother’s dog, Max, and my dog Ruby Mae. Other than cardstock and washi tape, all products are from Basic Grey’s “Konnichiwa” collection.

Doggie Lover

This one is based on NAS – Week 282 and ACOT – “What is old is new again” Challenge, where we had to use a paper that we usually bypass. I’m a big Basic Grey fan, and I usually love all papers/embellishments that they come out with. But with the “Konnichiwa” collection, I only loved half of it. I kept by-passing the papers, trying to figure out what to do with them. So I figured I’d sit down and USE those papers and I think the layout came out quite nicely.  The sketch helped alot too!

Layout: We’re Having a Party

Sketch-N-Scrap has a new sketch this month and it worked really well for a birthday layout. Here is the sketch I used:

And here’s my layout, featuring my step-son celebrating his 2nd birthday

We're Having a Party

I also did this layout for the 4X4 Challenge at ACOT. 4X4 means you only use two double sided papers and only 4 embellishments, with alphas and misting/inking is free. The hostess gives you a wonderful explaination. But alot of people might wonder, how do you use BOTH sides of pattern paper? The answer – you must plan your layout carefully, and then cut out a piece without much notice. When I was working on this layout, I chose to use My Mind’s Eye “Hip Hooray” collection. When doing the 4X4 Challenge, I like to use papers/embellishments from a kit, to make it a little easier.

For this layout, I used Hip-Hooray Boy “Surprise” paper as the background. And I cut out a small rectangle at the bottom:

DSCN1400

Then, I flipped the rectangle over to reveal the blue background, and put it right back:

DSCN1401

I flipped the sheet over and taped the rectangle to hold it in place:

DSCN1402

And if you count my embellishments separately, you’ll count 4 die cuts and 2 strips of washi tape, making the total 6. But I’m supposed to only use 4? How did I do it? Well, if one embellishment is touching another one – like the yellow washi tape under the “Put On Your Party Hat” die cut; or the yellow washi tape under the Party Hat die cut – you count those as ONE. Makes you really think about how to use your supplies and get the most out of the challenge.

And last but not least, my title. I was going thru my birthday stash and just couldn’t find anything that I liked. I decided to check out the CCR – Cricut Craft Room – to see what the freebies were for the week. And lo and behold, they had a birthday cartridge! “Something to Celebrate” is availalbe for free this week only. I love checking out the free carts each week. It allows a newbie – like me – to try out a cartridge before I buy it.

Layout: Congrats!

I love sketches and PageMaps has done it again! They are having a contest, based on the following sketch:

sept13_12x12_c

The following layout is of my husband and a picture of his AutoCad Certficate. In August 2010, he went up to San Antonio to take his exam. Not only did he pass it, he ACED the exam! I couldn’t be happier.

Congrats!

I used some vintage Basic Grey (Basics for the background paper; Marjolaine and Nook & Pantry for the scraps). Also used up some scraps from Fancy Pants (Happy Together). The stickers are Basic Grey “Oxford”. Thought they’d be perfect for the topic!

My journaling is on the tag, hidden:

This layout is the first page to my mother-in-law’s next album that I am working on.

Thanks for looking!

Layout: My New Extended Family

I love being challenged, and I usually partake in many challenges over at A Cherry On Top. PLUS I LOVE sketches! So while working on this layout that needed to use a transparency and washi tape (Technique Challenge), I managed to use this week’s Nuts About Sketches Sketch AND combine with ACOT’s Guest Designer Jouraling Spot/Tag Challenge (decorating journaling card(s)).

My NEW Extended Family

This layout is for my Mom’s album that I’m working on. This is the first page for the 5th installment. It was taken in 2007, one day after mine and hubby’s wedding. Its my parents, me and my hubby and his family (mom, grandparents, aunts, and a cousin) at our favorite restraunt.

Here’s a more detailed look at the decorated journaling cards and border

I used mostly Webster’s Pages “Park Drive” collection. And here’s the sketch I used:
